Clinical Supervision

Supervision

I am a Registered Supervisor with ACA and a member of the ACA College of Supervisors.

In my role as unit coordinator for the Professional Field Placement unit on the online Masters in Counselling at Edith Cowan University I provide group supervision for placement students together with individual support and mentorship where needed. Combined with my many years of experience in training, education and management I have lots of expertise in managing group dynamics.

In Carpe Diem Counselling and Clinical Supervision I provide clinical supervision to other counsellors, mentoring them on how to improve their practice, behave ethically, and prevent burnout. I offer individual and group supervision.

Supervision sessions will be tailored to your needs at the time but will typically include reviewing clinical concerns, discussing therapeutic strategies, considering ethical implications, developing your self-awareness and self-care strategies, and developing your practice. Just as the therapeutic alliance is vital in therapy, the supervisory alliance is key in effective supervision. I offer a warm and empathic mentoring style that will help empower you in your counselling practice.

Ethics and confidentiality

As a member of PACFA and ACA I am bound by their code of ethics. In particular this means that:

  • Anything you tell me is strictly confidential and will only be disclosed without your consent if necessary under law, for example to protect your life or that of others.
  • I will refer you on to another supervisor if issues arise that present a conflict with our existing work or if a specialist supervisor is required.
